Elder son of Late Babu Janki Dassji Halwasiya, who owned a Diamond Business, Hyderabad, India joined the business at the age 14 and in 1886 in Kolkata, Bengal.
On his father’s death he started a Hessian Trading Business and began looking after his mother and younger brother Late Babu Motilalji Halwasiya. He in partnership with Hurgovindji Dalmia started a partnership Firm by the Style of “Bissessarlal Hurgovind” in 1889. and after partition established the firm Bissessarlal Motilal Halwasiya whose ownership till date lies with his family
Early life and Education
Rai Bahadur Late Babu Bissessarlalji Halwasiya was born in Haluwas, Haryana, in 1870, the elder of two sons of Late Babu Janki Dassji Halwasiya. His Great Grand Father’s name was Late Babu Yamunadasji Halwasiya. His brother Late Babu Motilalji Halwasiya was born in 1886. Rai Bahadur Late Babu Bissessarlalji Halwasiya came to Calcutta and started work as a broker in gunnies. and through this business paid of the debt left by his father and gradually by his own exertion acquired a thriving business. He was home schooled in Hindi, Sanskrit and English at Bhiwani
Career
After consulting his mother, he arrived in Calcutta in 1886. There, with the assistance of fellow Bhiwani businessmen, the late Babu Bissessarlal ji started a jute broking business. His unparalleled loyalty and exceptional business acumen led to remarkable success, earning him respect within the Marwari society of Calcutta.
With an innate sympathy towards charity, a keen interest in social welfare, and an awareness of contemporary social and political contexts, he hosted a three-day All India Vaishnav Conference in Calcutta in 1913. Acharyas and scholars from across the country participated, and the full proceedings were published in his newspaper, Calcutta Samachaar.
Late Babu Bissessarlalji took on the responsibility of publishing a beautiful book called ‘Bhashyakara Shri Ramanujacharya’. In connection with this work, Chatuvedi Dwarka Prasad Sharmaji stated, “If we were biased to print and sell it, many such book publishers would have bought and sold it at arbitrary prices. But that was not our intention. For a long time, we searched for a generous gentleman who would publish this book and distribute it for free. By the grace of the Lord, Rai Bahadur Babu Bissessarlalji Halwasiya, a commentator Swami from Bhiwani and a Calcutta migrant, inspired us to undertake this auspicious work. Rai Bahadur Sahib took upon himself the entire expense of the publication and resolved to distribute it for free.”
Personal life
Rai Bahadur Late Babu Bissessarlalji Halwasiya married Phuli Debi. Their son Late Babu ShyamSundarji Halwasiya to continue the family legacy. Late Babu Shyam Sundarji Halwasiya took over the reins of the firm Bissessarlal Motilal Halwasiya and became the representing Trustee of Rai Bahadur Late Babu Bissessarlalji Halwasiya in Rai Bahadur Bissessarlal Motilal Halwasiya Trust

Throughout his life Rai Bahadur Late Babu Bissessarlalji Halwasiya was a keen and active Philanthropist. Even after his death his legacy is continued by his family along with Rai Bahadur Bissessarlal Motilal Halwasiya Trust which till date have helped established various institutions all over India
